Project Hygiene

Description

The condition of the current toilets is extremely poor. There are no toilet bowls, no doors, no water, and the floors and walls are not suitable for proper cleaning.

The existing school building includes two toilets, but additional facilities will be required for the new building. Improving sanitation is an essential part of the school’s development plan and must be addressed alongside the vegetable garden and other infrastructure projects.

The current toilets are connected to a septic tank that was previously installed and is believed to be of sufficient capacity. However, the condition of the tank and the drainage system still needs to be evaluated in detail. A proper assessment will determine whether repairs, cleaning, or structural improvements are required to ensure safe and hygienic operation.

Due to the improved food provision for all pupils, the school’s sanitation facilities are being used more intensively. At present, only two of the four toilets are operational, resulting in long waiting times for the available facilities.

Needs

Current status

  • Renovate the existing two toilets by installing doors, toilet fixtures, running water, lighting, and improved floors and wall finishes.
  • Complete the construction of the two toilets currently under development, resulting in a total of four fully functional toilet facilities.

Status

All planned works were completed in October 2026.

Four toilets meeting local hygiene standards are now available for all pupils.

The implementation of this project has helped create a cleaner, safer, and more dignified environment for both pupils and staff, while supporting the school’s future growth and development.
